Celebrations bring joy and happiness in everyone’s life. 23rd April 2017 was a memorable day for the Ursulines of Mary Immaculate as three of their sisters – Sr. Manjulata Hemrom, Sr. Bernadette Kujur and Sr. Sosan Lakra – took the final vows. Carrying a bunch of Lily each, these three sisters walked towards the altar of St Joseph’s Parish, Greater Noida, along with the Provincials of Vimala Province and Nirmala Province, the priests and the Main celebrant Most. Rev. Dr. Albert D’ Souza, Archbishop of Agra. Their readiness to follow the Lord forever was expressed through the theme “With Joy We Proclaim the Lord”.

During the homily the Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Albert D’ Souza highlighted the meaning of the religious call telling that these three sisters might be thinking how they, being weak and  poor could be effective in this modern world, which believes that power, position, and possessions are everything. He touched on all three readings chosen for the occasion. The first reading speaks about the call of Jeremiah who felt he was still a weak boy and not yet ready to be at the service of the Lord. The second reading from the first letter of St. Paul to Corinthians reminds us of whom God calls. God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise and the weak to shame the strong. The Gospel reminds of Jesus’ mission manifesto which every chosen one needs to follow.

We congratulate these three sisters for the courageous step they have taken to commit themselves completely to the Lord, listening to His call to proclaim the good news joyfully to the world. May they be filled with God’s grace and radiate peace and serenity as they entrust themselves to God and His people.

After the homily by His Grace, there followed the installation ceremony of the new Provincial Superior and Team. They offered themselves at the feet of the Lord that he may act through them. As a symbol of the transition of leadership, Sr. Rittie, the outgoing Provincial Superior lit the candle from the main candle before the Crucified Lord and handed it over to Sr. Nirupa, the new Provincial Superior. From the candle handed over to Sr. Nirupa, her team members lit their candles.
